PRESS RELEASE - ETF Green Skills Award 2024: Ten Finalists Announced

Today, the European Training Foundation (ETF) unveils the ten finalists of the 2024 ETF Green Skills Award, celebrating initiatives driving the transition towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future. These finalists represent an example of commitment and innovation in advancing green skills globally.

Selected from 316 applicants from 53 countries, this year's finalists present a rich set of backgrounds and expertise. The top ten initiatives were chosen by ETF experts for their exceptional contributions to sustainability.

Pilvi Torsti, Director of the ETF, commented, “The outstanding quality and diversity of this year’s finalists underscore the global dedication to advancing the green skills agenda. In this we are all sharing the same need to transform our societies, the whole world has a common goal. These initiatives are key to shaping a more sustainable world for generations to come. With the previous three editions of the Green Skills Award collecting over 33,000 public votes, anticipation is building for the announcement of the 2024 winner. In the meantime, we extend our congratulations to all the finalists and wish them the best of luck”.

Here is the complete list of the ten finalists for the 2024 ETF Green Skills Award:

An international jury of ETF experts has selected the 10 finalists. The winner will be chosen by public vote that will be open until 31 May 2024 (13:00 CEST), and a further two winners will be selected by an international jury composed of experts in green skills. All three will receive the ETF Green Skills 2024 Award and various benefits - including an invitation to the award ceremony. 

The ETF Green Skills Award

The ETF Green Skills Award is a global initiative that was first introduced in 2021. It provides ideas and inspiration from all over the world about innovation happening thanks to individuals and institutions. The initiative has become a source of good practice that can inspire people everywhere to make real change in creating circular and carbon-neutral economies and societies.

Background

The European Training Foundation is the EU agency supporting the countries neighbouring the EU to reform their education, training, and labour market systems. In line with the objectives of the EU Green Deal and the European Year of Skills, it actively supports progress towards sustainable, carbon-neutral, and circular economies and societies through skills development.
