The future skill needs in the Egyptian energy sector
This country report highlights the strategic importance of Egypt’s energy sector, which is transitioning from fossil fuels towards renewable sources—particularly solar and wind—driving growing demand for higher-level and digital skills.
The sector faces significant skills gaps, especially in technical, digital, and renewable energy fields, largely due to weak alignment between education systems and labour market needs, as well as limited practical training opportunities.
To support this transition, the report recommends strengthening collaboration between industry and education, developing systematic approaches to skills forecasting, and expanding training provision, particularly in renewables, digital technologies, and energy management.
