The 30 years, 30+stories campaign triples! A journey into the ETF's work in EU Member States
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the European Training Foundation. Founded in 1994, the ETF has helped 13 countries reform their education and labour market sectors on their way to EU membership.
In 2004, the 'big bang' enlargement opened the EU's doors to Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, all of which were ETF partner countries.
In 2007, two more former ETF partner countries, Bulgaria and Romania, joined the European Community.
In 2013, Croatia brought the EU to its current composition.
Following their accession to the EU, all these countries are supported in the field of vocational education and training and human capital development by Cedefop, to whom we are grateful for their valuable insights presented in these three articles.
Today, the ETF supports nine countries that are recognised as candidates for membership of the European Union: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine. The ETF hopes to tell a similar story of success in supporting reform and human capital development for EU integration in these nine countries in the future.
